Hellbound and Heartless contains 16 tracks including a cover of Nirvana's "Rape Me". Since their debut with the album Kiss The Sun Goodbye, the band has gone through several major lineup changes. The most recent change was the departure of bassist Philip Kross.

Interview with XFACTOR1

In the music business, a relationship with fans is key. One band that truly understands that is XFACTOR1. I was able to talk to the band's lead vocalist Ricky "QBall" Wolf about the band's formation, their recently released album FAMOUS.LAST.WORDS, and why a great relationship with fans is important to them.

Front Paige Metal News: For people who haven't heard XFACTOR1, what can you tell them about the band? Who are your biggest influences?

QBall: We've been around for about 6 years. We jam with a lot of passion and energy, and our live shows are a strength for us. We're down to earth guys who are very approachable, because we love meeting new people. The more beer, boobs, and decadence the better. Since we have band members that love all kinds of music, we are all over the place with our sound- Ben Harper to Suicide Silence and anything/everything in between. We're not metal elitist or snobs. If it's good and we like it, it influences us.

Front Paige Metal News: You definitely sound like a band that isn't afraid to work hard to build a fan base. What is your relationship with fans like?

QBall: The music biz ain't what it once was. The hungry pitbull gets the table scraps, and we aren't gonna wait around for something to fall in our laps. We've been all over the U.S. promoting our band in the trenches selling CDs, making friends and new fans we call XNation in the parking lots of festivals while people are tailgating and hanging out. People respect hard work in America. They see our passion. When they come to the shows, they see that we keep it real and give them the respect and attention they deserve, and we all become friends. It's okay to be a rockstar, but don't forget about the fans. Nothing's more important than your supporters. Without them, we are nothing.

Front Paige Metal News: XF1 is getting ready for the release of the album FAMOUS.LAST.WORDS. What can you tell us about the album?

QBall: When you're a self-supporting band that tours, records, and does most of the things the more well-known bands do, without a financial benefactor, it can be real hard on you. You get angry. You get sick of one another. Add in broken relationships, our disdain for the greed of Corporate America, losing friends to drug problems, and we had a lot of things to say on this new record. It's the culmination of the life of real guys in a real world. We don't make music we don't like, and I don't write lyrics just because they sound good when it rhymes. This CD, in many ways, is a testimonial of all our lives.

Front Paige Metal News: What other projects are coming up for the band?

QBall: XF1 is pretty much all consuming for us right now. So our eyes are on touring, promotion of this new CD, and getting our music to the masses via any mediums possible. It takes up a lot of our time. But I find time for sex as much as possible. It's my favorite side project!

Front Paige Metal News: Why should people check out an XFACTOR1 show?

QBall: I've always thought that if a band can't offer a unique experience that adds to why you will love them, why go to a show? So, we make damn sure that we leave it all on the stage every night with every ounce of passion and energy we can. And as I said before, we don't hide in the dressing room until we play and dip as soon we're done. We want to meet the people at the shows and develop relationships. Hell, we may even come to your house, drink all your beer, and puke off the front porch!

Show Review: Our Last Night, Set It Off, Lions Lions, Palisades, & Alive In Standby

Last Friday, I went with my best friend Georgina to see Our Last Night at The Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY. I've seen several shows there, but this was definitely the best! All of the bands that played were great. After several local bands played, Alive In Standby and Palisades both played strong sets that got the crowd into the show. Following was Lions Lions who also performed really well. One of my favorite things about going to shows is becoming a fan of bands that you aren't yet familiar with.
After Lions Lions, the band that took the stage was Set It Off. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. They blew me away! The band's energy onstage is infectious as could be seen from the crowd's reaction. Frontman Cody Carson is probably one of the best that I've been lucky enough to see perform live. Not only does he have a great voice, but his stage presence is very animated and charismatic, and he really connects with fans. The other members of the band (Austin Kerr- Bass/ Zach Dewall- Guitar/ Dan Clermont- Guitar & Vocals/ Maxx Danziger- Drums) have great chemistry onstage and with the audience. Hopefully, they will schedule their own headlining tour, because I will most definitely be there in the front row!

Georgina, Austin Kerr, & I

And of course, when the headliners, Our Last Night, took the stage, the audience went crazy! I first saw OLN when they opened for Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows in March, and they were amazing. This time, they were even better. Having more time to be onstage and to interact with fans made it a much more intimate show. Lead vocalist, Trevor Wentworth definitely knows how to put on a show and make it an experience for the fans. He, along with the rest of the band (Matt Wentworth- Guitar & Vocals/ Colin Perry- Guitar/ Alex "Woody" Woodrow- Bass/ Tim Molloy- Drums), really put all of their energy into making the show one that fans will remember.

Interview with Dan Johnson of Love and Death

Late last year, I spoke with Brian "Head" Welch about his new music with his band that was, at the time, called HEAD. The band has since been renamed Love and Death and released an EP, Chemicals, in April. The band (Brian "Head" Welch- Vocals & Guitar/ Dan Johnson- Drums/ Michael Valentine- Bass/ J.R. Bareis- Guitar) just finished a line of U.S. dates but will be continuing to tour throughout the summer. They are also preparing for the fall release of their full length album.

I have to say that out of all of the bands that are currently in the studio, I'm most excited to hear Love and Death. I can't stop listening to their latest single, "Chemicals". Make sure you check out the video below!
I recently spoke with Dan Johnson; check out our interview to hear him talk about touring, the new album, and how he feels about Head's affiliation with Korn.

Interview with Tryg Littlefield of Fall From Grace

Some of you may remember the band Fall From Grace as the winners of Fuse TV's "Bodog Music Battle of the Bands" back in 2007. After winning the $1 million contract, the band released their third album Sifting Through The Wreckage in 2008. FFG is now on an indie label and in January released their first album in four years, The Romance Years. With the new lineup, (Tryg Littlefield- Lead vocals & guitar/ Brian Olson- Guitar & vocals/ Ty McDonald- Guitar/ Justin McDonald- Bass & vocals/ Jesse Smith- Drums & vocals) the band is currently on tour with Eve 6 and The Audition. (Click here for tour dates)
I caught up with the guys at their show at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY, last week, and it was insane! It was my first time seeing the band live, and I was most definitely impressed. The guys put on a really great, energetic show, and their new music sounds amazing! I spoke with Tryg a few weeks ago when he talked about The Romance Years, what inspires him most, and his relationship with fans!

"18 & Out"

I had a blast hanging out with the guys after the show; they're awesome! Make sure you hit up one of their shows. Check out their official site, Facebook, and Twitter for more info.

Interview with Sima

As a musician, actress, and entrepreneur, Sima is the definition of a triple threat. Since moving to New York from her home in Israel in order to pursue her music career, Sima has spent more than two years dedicating her time to songwriting. Now living in Los Angeles, she has recently finished production on her debut album, This Is My Truth. I got to talk to Sima about her style, musical influences, and the new album.

Front Paige Metal News: What first inspired you to become a musician?

Sima: What first inspired me to become a musician is the love for music, and the way it made me feel every time I heard a song that inspired me and I could relate to. I was fascinated by it. I think the need for expression is big for me, and the music and the stage fulfill that being on stage can free you! You and everything around you become alive. Also, I was around music a lot since a young age. I sing and perform since I remember myself so I guess I also born with some kind of a gift.

FPMN: How do you describe your style? From which musicians do you draw the most inspiration?

Sima: I describe my style as Pop Rock- haunting and dangerous with driving guitars and heartfelt vocals. Growing up, I listened to everything from pop, jazz, rock, R&B, and soul. I loved it all! I loved listening to Janis Joplin's music, also Stevie Nicks. I admired Bjork's freedom of expression musically, emotionally, and her crazy style. I also liked Alanis Morissette and The Cranberries, bands like GnR, Radio Head, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Perfect Circle, and so many more.

FPMN: I know that you have a lot of experience writing music; Do you prefer writing or performing? Do you feel that you are able to express yourself better in one medium than the other?

Sima: I love doing both. Writing is the process of creating something new; it's exciting and also therapeutic in a way. You get to deal and write about things most people keep to themselves. That's why we all can relate to a song that touches us. It's like the writer spoke to our hearts and knew how we feel deep inside. Writing is the creation of a baby; then you need to let him live his life.  Performing live you get to celebrate all those little moments and experiences again and again, but every time they effect you and others differently. I love the stage cause I like the energy you get from the crowd and they from you. It's the best feeling ever affecting and be affected by others by pure love!  I guess you can't have one without the other right?

FPMN: What message do you hope my readers take away from your music?

Sima: I want them to get positive and great energy and feel my passion of celebrate life, love, creation, and music. I want to inspire them to develop their own passion in life and to never feel alone and that we are all in this together and should support and inspire one another. I hope that through listening to my music they will feel empowered and that they can achieve anything they put their mind, body, and soul into and just have fun, rock loud, and enjoy and appreciate life.

FPMN: What is coming up next for you?

Sima: I'm releasing my album May 1st which I'm super happy and excited about. We're shooting the next music video for the single "Suffering Is My Addiction". Many radio interviews and cover stories coming up and planning to start touring by the summer.

Soulicit Interview

With gigs opening for bands like Buckcherry and Pop Evil, and even getting airplay on Nikki Sixx's hit radio show Sixx Sense, Soulicit is quickly gaining a following of devoted rock fans. I recently spoke with vocalist Darick Parson about the band's success.

Front Paige Metal News: How would you describe Soulicit? What is your main goal for the band?

Darick: Soulicit is a blue-collar, hardworking, American rock band from America's Heartland. Our music speaks directly to where we came from and how we were all raised. Get out there and bust your butt until you achieve your dreams. Anything worth having is worth working hard for, and we have been beating the streets for a long while now. Our music is straightforward hard rock with catchy choruses and guitar driven rhythms that nod back to the classic glory days of rock n' roll. Our goal is to bring that old school rock n' roll feel of yesteryear to today and put rock back where it belongs, on top.

FPMN: Having performed at festivals with the likes of Buckcherry and Twisted Sister must be a great asset in gaining new fans. Also, you've received airplay on Sixx Sense. How are their audiences receiving your music? What is it like to have support from artists of that caliber?

Darick: We have played shows with everyone from Twisted Sister to Anew Revolution all the way to Shooter Jennings. We continue to be blown away by the fact that no matter what people came to a show to hear, they are completely engaged, entertained, and grabbing onto what we are playing up there, regardless of any "style" differences. From coast to coast we have been greeted with open arms and winning fans over every show. A very humbling experience for us for sure.

FPMN: What is coming up next for the band?

Darick: Lots and lots of touring. Our main focus right now is to promote the release of the new record, and we are doing that through heavy touring all year in 2012. We want to reach out and touch as many new friends and fans as we can this year and go from there. Maybe a new record in the winter?

FPMN: What do you hope my readers take away from Soulicit's music?

Darick: It is all up to us as fans, bands, promoters, radio etc. to be proactive in bringing back rock to the forefront of the music industry and putting it back where it belongs. Go out to a local show, buy a CD, buy a shirt, support rock in any way you can so that we are all doing our part to strengthen what we all know, that rock n roll will never die! Soulicit's music is all about just that. From party anthems to tear jerking ballads, our music represents emotions and feelings that are as real and true as the red blood that runs through all of us. No gimmicks, no obligations, just straight up rock in the most primal way.

"Hell Yeah":

For more on Soulicit, you can check out their official Facebook page. They will be touring through the rest of the year, so be sure to check out their tour dates!
